Theses and Dissertations written at METU

• Printed Theses

A copy of theses and dissertations written by METU students is stored in the Library.

Printed theses can be searched within the Thesis Catalogue.

• E-Theses

This project was started to provide web access to theses and dissertations that have been completed at the Middle East Technical University since April 2003. In September 2003, the METU Library Theses and Dissertations Archives was established and since that time students have been submitting their theses in both print and Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF).

E-theses can be accessed by searching the Library Catalog.

How to find master theses and dissertations written at METU

  • Go to the Library Catalogue.
  • Click on the “Advanced Search” button.
  • Write the keywords in the first search box.
  • If you are searching for masters theses, write “master” in the second search box and click on the “Search” button.
  • If you are searching for dissertations, write “dissertation” in the second search box and click on the “Search” button.
  • The titles which appears on the screen is listed from most recent backwards.
  • When you click on a title from the list, the full bibliographical information appears.
  • If the thesis was completed before September 2003, it is available only in printed form, and to read this thesis you should pick up the call number from the screen and ask for it from the reference desk.
  • If the thesis was completed after September 2003, you can view the PDF version of it by clicking on the “Connect to” link which is in the bibliographical data.
  • Some of the electronic theses completed in recent years could be closed to the public due to sanctions imposed by the author(s). The print versions of such theses can also be read only with the permission of the author(s).
  • If you would like to search for theses by department code, after selecting the “Call Number” option, write the department code in the search box then click on the “Search” button. You can see the department codes by clicking on the Theses Classification List.
  • Print versions of masters and doctoral theses may only be used in the Library.
  • Photocopying theses may only be done with the permission of the author(s).

Theses and Dissertations Written at Other Universities in the World

Citations and abstracts for doctoral dissertations and some master theses, from North American colleges & universities and some accredited international universities can be accessed from 1861 via Dissertations and Theses database. Full texts are available from 1997 to date.
